I can't believe I am saying this... but here it goes... Christmas is fast approaching and I am running out of time!! Yes, I know there are still 3 months to go before Christmas is really here but I am trying to get a collection of little hats out for all those Christmas cards and new babies and I just don't seem to be getting anywhere fast enough!

Here is a sneak peak and what I have made so far...

Mohair Collection

I have been dying to knit  little hats from the beautiful mohair blend yarns I have but have been putting it off because of its fine texture and ultra small needles that it would require.  But with a little persuasion from the lovely Natasha Wiening Photography,  I have knitted a few little hats to co-ordinate with the lovely wraps I make. All of these have detachable flower in a contrasting colour.  Great for mixing them up and changing the look in seconds.

Teddy Bear Teddy Bear

After a very unproductive knitting month, I decided to get stuck in and managed to get these 2 adorable hats done on Bank Holiday Monday! Thank you Bank Holiday because if it were not for the day off, my knitting count for August would truly have been zero!

These little guys are soon to be followed by a range of soft textured neutral coloured teddy hats with detachable bows for boy/girl combinations...

Can't wait to get started on them!

Quite a month...

I can make up a 100 excuses for why I haven't blogged or knitted, but the truth is... I have been baking.  It was my daughters 2nd birthday so I decided to bake her cake, which just led to baking another for a very dear little boys 2nd birthday.

So while its great to celebrate, I have just a few too many birthday's in August, including mine and my husbands.  Needless to say, my back pocket is feeling a touch empty and my thighs a 'touch' cuddlier!
My other hobby!
This is the Toy Story cake I made for Caleb with help form his mom Tracy, one of the few people who I regularly get to see and spend alot of time with!

Now that its all calmed down and I am not stressing about sugar paste and sugar overload I can get back to knitting some pretty nifty props and updating the website and facebook pages.
If you have anything props in mind, drop me an email, I am always looking for new things to try and pics to inspire me!

Hats, headbands and then some...

I've been busy this week coming up with a pattern for a new little hat!  These are so sweet and so quick to make with its chunky yarn, Love the cute little buttons!  You'll have to get one in each colour to coordinate those twin shoots perfectly!

Awesome aren't they!

My other little project involved headbands!  So after buying a few bits weeks ago, I finally managed to get round to making these cute little bows...

Diamante Bow

Another of my projects that has been waiting to be blogged is my grass effect mini blanket! I love this one so much, feels like a patch of grass where ever I go!

Picnic anyone?

Take a few minutes to browse through the different tabs, there are a few new items in each!  I am just testing the checkout page on my website, as soon as this is working and its actually linked to my bank account, I'll let you all know!

Have a lovely weekend everyone, I am off to go spend some well deserved quality time with my family.

Coming soon...

Its been a bit of a hectic week, getting back to work, knitting up some orders and setting up an online store!

I didn't realise how work much went into setting up a store! I have had to export my photos into various file formats, several times over, type out product descriptions, several times over, set up terms and conditions, several times over, keeping fingers crossed it doesn't crash out on me - several times over!!!  Then figuring out how it all works has proved to be quite a challenge that has run way past my bedtime - several times over!!!!!  EEEK!

But! Not much left to do now, so I should hopefully have the site up and running next week!  Just need to find some time to put my feet up and catch my breath before the next week rolls in!

A little time out...

After 2 weeks of annual leave, a little break into the country side with some close friends, I call family, I am back to the surreal world of nine to five's, nursery drop offs, hoovering, laundry, ironing and cooking. Somewhere between all that I still need to find time for knitting, taking some very scary looking photographs of these items and posting them on here!  All that somehow manages to come together, what takes me an age is to write something to go with the post!

So I am hoping the new items that I have been working on will do the talking instead!

New to Prettiknit are mini blankets.   These are approximately 30" x 20".  They are thicker and have a closer knit than the Whimsical Wraps. They are lovely and soft, extremely cuddly with loads of texture.

I have also created a few new headbands! These have a lovely little rose with a sparkly diamanté centre on a cloud of tulle.  So pretty!

So much more to post... so please come back soon!

Natasha Wiening Photography

It was June 2010, I was 34 weeks pregnant, when I met Natasha Wiening.  I wanted memories that would capture the beauty and wonderful sense of excitement and expectancy that my husband and I were feeling with the arrival of our precious bundle just a few weeks away. With her friendly personality and warm atmosphere,  what she managed to capture in our photos will always remind us of our journey of joy and absolute love for a teeny tiny little person we were yet to meet.  Photos that we will treasure forever...  what I did not expect was several months later I'd meet up with Natasha again, but this time not for photos, but to knit her a few photography props for those beautiful little newborns that she is so blessed to have in her studio.

It has been such a rewarding experience to see the knits I have lovingly made,  on those little angels captured so beautifully.  I also have the privilege to show you some of these photography props in action, all these gorgeous photographs have been taken by Natasha, please visit Natasha Wiening Photography and see her wonderful work.  Her photography truly is an artwork to treasure.

A Stitch In Time...

I remember sitting in class, loathing to knit a single stitch, waiting for the day we were told we could take our knitting home to work on over the weekend.  What I was really looking forward to was getting back to school to say "Hey, look how far I've knitted, a-ha yes, I did all this, all by myself!"  .....well lets just say that that wasn't exactly the case.  I would beg my Mom to help me, and of course, knit untidily so it looked like me!
Now, many many years later, I am knitting and I am happy to report I don't get my Mom to help, with an ocean and a continent between us, I've had to do it all by myself!

So what is it that I knit? The answer is newborn photo props.  I wish I could say a blanket or a cardi, but facing 100+ stitches still terrifies me.  Give me a chunky yarn and some fat needles and I'll knit you a  hat in an hour!  If I'm feeling adventures I'll swop the chunky yarn for some lace weight yarn and knit you a wrap in 2!  If I can do it in a day, between juggling being a mother, wife and employee, its my kind of thing!
